Description of the group
Setas Kimya Sanayi was founded in 1966 as a chemical company focused on coloration technologies. Its fields of production include: i) Textile (textile dyes, auxiliaries, optical brighteners, fibre lubricants); ii) Denim (denim dyes and auxiliaries); iii) Paper (paper dyes, auxiliaries and optical brighteners); iv) Masterbatch (plastic and fibre masterbatches); v) Powder coatings (epoxy, hybrid, polyester, polyurethane, acrylic coatings); and vi) Construction chemicals (plasticizers, special concrete additives, complementary products).

The group involved in INDOX has wide expertise in dyes and interest on biotechnological applications in the sector. Dr Mehmet Emre Sener is the Chairman of SETAS Research Group- his family own business -and chairs the board of R&D at SETAS since 1999. İsmail Yakin is responsible of the coordination of many EU and national projects and sustainable innovative projects. Sibil Kılıc will be also directly involved in the project.

Main role in INDOX
The role of SETAS within the project will be to cooperate with other participants in:
i) evaluation of the better performing laccases;
ii) demonstrate feasibility and validity of the production technologies developed and optimized for obtaining native and engineered laccases at pilot or industrial scale; and
iii) proof of concept and pilot validation of laccase-based dye production.
