Description of the group
The Directed Enzyme Evolution Laboratory (
www.miguelalcaldelab.eu) will be the group involved in INDOX, leaded by
M. Alcalde. The main interests of the group focus in enzyme engineering by directed evolution and hybrid/semi-rational approaches for several biotechnological settings; synthetic biology for energy and environmental applications; development of HT-biomolecular screening tools and genetic methods for library construction and exploration.
In the lab
Main role in INDOX
The main role of
ICP is to combine directed evolution efforts with rational and hybrid approaches to tailor more robust, highly efficient peroxidases, peroxygenases, flavo-oxidases and laccases, with improved and/or new catalytic activities for applications in organic syntheses.
ICP leads
WP5 dedicated to directed evolution.
